About my practice

Supervision for tricky situations…

Having worked as a sports dietitian across private practice, pro & elite sport (team and individual sports), and aesthetic sports, I have an appreciation of managing athlete desires & concerns in the space where performance meets health. This is not to mention navigating the concerns and often demanding desires of coaches, performance directors, strength and conditioning coaches… the list goes on. As a sports dietitan, we are often in the place of having to advocate for the athlete, and navigating this can be, in a word, stressful.

Common spaces for supervision
– athletes experiencing disordered eating or an eating disorder
– athletes with body image concern
– advocating for your role of sports dietitian, within the performance team – increasing capacity, showing value
– navigating power imbalances within the team sports environment
– understanding if and when physique assessment is appropriate
– understanding if and when physique manipulation is appropriate
– communicating with the performance team for best outcomes

Overall, the role of a sports dietitian in both private practice and high performance environments requires careful consideration, ethical decision-making, and a commitment to supporting health and body image acceptance in athletes. My goal in offering supervision (guided by Motivational Interviewing), is that supervises experience the outcome of the feeling confident and supported in their well-considered approach.
